Amamo Revival Collaboration in Kanazawa-Hakkei,Tokyo Bay Area

v is the "Amamo Revival Collaboration in Kanazawa-Hakkei,Tokyo Bay Area".

Formerly, there were many Amono (eelgrasses) fields in the Tokyo bay, because there were plenty of shallow coasts and muddy flats throughout the Tokyo bay, where many small lives such as fishes, lug worms, squids, snails and clams, etc. Along with improvement of our daily life, in contrast, marine environment, became worse.

Left picture: Red tides, which killed many lives in the coast.

Right picture: Shell fishes killed by low oxygen sea water induced by red tides.

In order to have the rich sea environment in our hands again, we have decided to act by ourselves through the revival of the meadows of the amamo, eelgrasses.

Many individuals (citizens), NPO, enterprizes, universities, schools (elementary, junior high and high), and cooperation of fisheries, central and local governments etc gather together and contributing with their characters and know-hows.

We believe our rather small and local activities here in Yokohama may extend to the world-wide activities carried by the people who think and act of the similar poblem.
