Nojima Seashore

This is the only natural beach left in Yokohama, in 500 m long. All the other coast line has been reclamated or man-made settings.

Kanazawa-Sea-Park

This is an artificial beach which Yokohama City has developed.

Although it is a man-made beach, there is rich asari (short-necked clams) population on season and people come and collect them for delicious foods.

Yokohama-Bay Side Marina

It was a lumberyard. Water surface was covered by imported woods.

Presently it is open for public and used as a marina, for yachts and boats.

Our activities for Amamo revival are performed in shallow waters adjactent to the yacht harbor.

Hasirimizu Seashore

About 8 km south from Yokohama City in the same Tokyo bay, eelgrasses (Amamo) are growing in nature.

We collect reproductive shoots with young seeds here. They are taken care further for maturation in sea water pools in a research center for fisheries of a local government for two months. A recent DNA analysis proved that genetic characters of the Amamo can be considered the same inside of the Tokyo bay.
