Hasirimizu Seashore (Yokosuka City) About 8 km south from Yokohama City in the same Tokyo bay, eelgrasses (Amamo) are growing in nature. We collect reproductive shoots with young seeds here. They are taken care further for maturation in sea water pools in a research center for fisheries of a local government for two months. A recent DNA analysis proved that genetic characters of the Amamo can be considered the same inside of the Tokyo bay. |
